I had an 83 model which was the v45 I beleive. And was having problems with the carbs alot. Just for a shot I would suggest putting a can of "sea foam" you get it a NAPA parts store in the tank a whole can to one tank just incase there is some crud in the fuel system have had real good luck with this product.
